Hampshire, England. Indian batting sensation Virat Kohli has now claimed that his prolonged poor form is a deliberate act, where he is trying to see if he can retain his place in the squad like colleague Rohit Sharma even after failing in as many innings.
“It is just a way to check if I have the sufficient amount of ‘talent’ that Rohit bhai is blessed with, to remain a part of playing 11 despite failing continuously,” Kohli told Faking News.
It may be recalled that there were some reports earlier that claimed that Virat was playing badly to test Anushka Sharma’s loyalty. Virat confirmed those speculations for the first time.
“The loyalty has been checked. She is not going anywhere,” Virat revealed the findings, “There was a tense moment though, when she asked the phone number of Rahane after his hundred in second test, but all was well after I promised to watch Patiala House once again.”
Virat however conceded that his current experiment was not going to be as easy as testing Anushka’s loyalty.
“It is difficult to suddenly transform yourself into a player who plays ‘9 bad innings and 1 good inning’ from ‘1 bad inning and 9 good innings’. And I have just begun. Have at least 20-25 more ducks to score before I come into the league of Rohit bhai,” Virat said as he struggled to not score off Pankaj Singh in the nets.
While he is enjoying this experiment, Virat fears that the patience of Dhoni, Fletcher and selectors might run out; signs of which are already there.
“The other day Dhoni bhai handed me a list of groceries required by Sakshi bhabhi and asked me to get it from Supermarket. I had to mouth a few words of wisdom I am known for, to remind him that I am not Raina,” Virat disclosed. Though he later interpreted the incident as Dhoni trying to save his place in the team by giving him chances off field.
Meanwhile Virat has been told by cricket fans that he was only 2 more failed innings away from being bestowed the title of ‘Sir’.
