The Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee had taken their MLAs to a Bengaluru resort before the Rajya Sabha elections to discuss the election strategy.
After all the drama that unfolded on the day of the election, the tired MLAs, who kept awake all night for EC’s verdict and the final results, were again taken to the same Bengaluru resort for relaxation.
Before the elections, the MLAs were taken to the Bengaluru resort and were prevented from using mobile phones by senior leaders from the party to prevent horse trading.
Our investigations revealed that this time around, the MLAs themselves have switched off their mobile phones so the party leaders cannot call them back to Gujarat and get them to work.
However, the MLAs who left for Bengaluru were stuck in a traffic jam just 2 km away from the resort. Having given up on the traffic conditions in Bengaluru, the MLAs decided to take a nap in the car itself on their way to the resort.
Speaking to our reporter, one of the MLAs who were stuck in the jam explained the situation, “We knew we’d be stuck here. Hence, we got ourselves luxurious cars from the money that was exchanged during the elections. We can now sit inside these spacious, air-conditioned cars and relax for days while we reach our destination in this traffic,” he said after waking up from a 3-hour nap.
Meanwhile, the Congress MLAs have also requested the State Election Commission of Gujarat to shift their office to the premises of Bengaluru resort.
“We have received a request of shifting our premises to Bengaluru and we are seriously considering it so that we can relax in the resort during the 364 days of the year when we are not working,” said the Chief Election Officer, talking about the one day of election when they operate during the year.
