New Delhi. Frustrated with the ongoing drama over who could move into her current house next month, President Pratibha Patil has threatened to sell her travel bag, trolley, and other trekking paraphernalia to the highest bidder by listing them on e-commerce websites.
Earlier, she had decided to sell them to the new President at a concessional rate. Madam Patil had bought the travel kit through personal spending for her frequent foreign travels.
“I won’t be needing these as foreign trips are very costly,” President Patil told Faking News, “As an accepted practice when a new tenant moves into a house, I had thought to give these to the new President. But this is taking too long and time is running out!”
President Patil claimed that she had seen TV ads of some websites like Olx, Quickr, eBay, etc. while watching “Byaah Humaari Bahu Ka” where one could sell personal belongings with just click of a computer mouse.
“I know computers and I could sell it to someone in public if the government doesn’t decide the name of the Presidential candidate within the next 24 hours,” a visibly frustrated Pratibha Patil issued the deadline.
“I need some time to bargain and if they decide the President’s name at the last hour, I might not get the best deal from that person,” she rued.
While selling belongings to a new tenant is not new in urban India, especially when the outgoing tenant is moving to a new city, sources at Rashtrapati Bhavan say that this is the first time an outgoing President is offering to sell something to the incoming President.
“President Kalam had not offered to buy or sell anything,” a Rashtrapati Bhavan plumber disclosed, “He had some books that he offered to gift Pratibha Tai, but none of them were on topics that interested Madam – cooking, meditation, banking, housing, or traveling.”
