BMW, the German luxury automobile manufacturer has launched its much-awaited Sedan, Mosquito Away ‘BMW MA-1’, which acts as a mosquito repellent, in India at a price ranging from Rs. 25 lakh to Rs. 19.9 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
BMW India President Margot Robbie said: ” We conducted surveys and figured out that tackling the grass root level problems in innovative ways is essential to gain trust of Indians. We hired top MBA marketing grads and asked them to suggest ways to improve the market share.”
”BMW MA-1, developed as per the Indian insights, is equipped with an Ultra Sonic device which once activated, uses the sound wave technology and makes mosquitoes fly away without emitting any harmful radiations,” BMW India said in a statement.
The device has been tested to repel mosquitoes within 500 metres radius the vehicle. ”Although the car has got nothing to do with the device, we thought why not combine them to drive sales.”
The technology complies with the norms of global organizations and has been tested by Indian Institute of Biotechnology and Toxicology (IIBAT), India as well.
As per the reports, an essential filter is removed from the muffler, due to which the emissions from the car acts as a fogging machine for the mosquitoes and creates an unfavorable environment for them to survive. “My relatives were fed up with the growing no. of mosquitoes in their colony. They asked me to drive my BMW MA-1 around their colony over and over again. All the mosquitoes succumbed to the deadly smoke. I got accolades from the whole colony. I highly recommend this car.” said Manish, a happy first customer.
Commenting on the launch, BMW India said, The new Mosquito Away technology will transit beyond sheer driving experience and build a healthy environment at home.”
BMW MA1 will be available in colors like Transparent Black, Space Green, Deep Sea Yellow and Toffee Brown.
