Hours before Canadian singer Justine Beiber’s concert in Mumbai, people living along the tracks have been asked by the authorities not to use the tracks for defecation while the singer is flying in the helicopter.
This was done to ensure that the singer gets picturesque images of the city when he clicks a few ones from the helicopter.
Speaking to Faking News a source from the BMC said, “We came to know that the singer will be taking a helicopter to avoid traffic. He is put up in Lower Parel and will be going to Navi Mumbai. The path of helicopter will cross the railway tracks. More specifically the stretch between Mahim and Matunga. Which is prime spot for open defecation.”
“So we asked the dwellers to ‘hold back’ for some time till the singer reaches the concert venue. A few BMC personnel will also be stationed along the tracks to ensure that tracks are free from squatters,” he added.
Our reporter also spoke to a few people staying along the track. “Kuch log aaya policewala ke saath aur bole ki kal koi gaanewala aa raha hai toh tracks pe baithneka nahi. Abhi agar jaane ka rahega toh kidhar jayega. Aap hi bolo,” questioned one man, who was clearly not happy with the restriction on his freedom of defecation.
The ‘curfew’ will be in place for 8 hrs till the singer is back in his hotel room. A senior official assured that everything will get back to normal by tomorrow morning, when dwellers need the railway tracks the most.
