Sanjay Leela Bhansali calls off Padmavati after no community troubles him in 3 months

Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next venture Padmavati has made headlines several times even before its release. The concept of the film has offended the Rajput community so much that vocal members vandalized the sets of his films. In one such incident, director Sanjay Leela Bhansali was slapped on his film’s set. After no recent attack on him by the Rajput community, the director has shelved his movie for its inability to spark a controversy.

Reportedly, the filmmaker is upset after members of the Rajput community did not thrash him nor vandalise his film set since three months. “Initially, they attacked us several times because there was a problem with our movie. We are so used to getting assaulted that not getting thrashed has made us believe that there’s a definite problem; hence, I’m calling it off,” said a dejected Bhansali.

In the press conference arranged to announce the move, he asked if the journalists had ideas to spark unnecessary controversies relating to Padmavati. “Journalists in India are known to sensationalise events and create controversies. If you have interesting ideas that can invite the Rajputs again, please share them with me and save my film,” begged the hopeful filmmaker.

Actor Shahid Kapoor, who plays Raja Ratan Singh in Padmavati, condemned SLB’s decision to call off the movie. “I get one good film in five years and he called it off, and people ask me why I act in movies like Rangoon and R… Rajkumar,” he said. He further added that he would like to be in news for his work, not for uploading selfies with his daughter.

Speaking exclusively to us, Sanjay Leela Bhansali said that the last resort to complete the movie is to call it off. “I have called it off so it pisses Shahid and he attacks me, and that’s how my film is in news again,” he said.
