Mumbai: Chairman of Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), Pahlaj Nihalai, was seen sharpening his scissor after he watched Befikre trailer on YouTube last night. Befikre is an upcoming romantic drama film starring Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor, the trailer for which was released in Paris yesterday.
The trailer had many kiss scenes between the two leading actors and there are reportedly even more intimate scenes in the film. As the producers of the film prepared for promotions, Mr. Nihalani is already waiting for the copy of the film with his scissor in hand.
Confirming the news that he is indeed waiting eagerly for Befikre, Mr. Nihalani said, “Well I like films like Befikre, they give me so much work to do. I feel useful; I feel that I am not being paid for sitting idle. I saw the trailer last night and was shocked to see so many kisses. They take a breath to say a dialogue, and then again start kissing. Itni kya aag lagi hui hai.”
“They are kissing in the middle of the road, do you know how dangerous that is if people start doing that in India? So many people will start watching you instead of watching the road and then there will be thousands of accidents. Who will be responsible for that? Let the film reach my table, I will put appropriate tax on the kissing scenes”, Mr. Nihalani added.
Further, he said, “We are not against kissing in films, but it should be done in moderation. As you know, we didn’t cut the kiss scene even from the Bond film, we just reduced it to the appropriate length. So many germs transfer from one mouth to the other while kissing, lengthy kisses can really make you sick. We are making India healthy while preserving the culture of the country.”
As per sources, the producers are thinking about adding some devotional background music during all kiss scenes to ensure there are no censor cuts.
