New Delhi. BJP President Nitin Gadkari, who didn’t resign after allegations of corporate malpractices, has agreed to resign now even though he got a clean chit from Chartered Accountant S Gurumurthy.
The decision by Congress to appoint Rahul Gandhi as the head of coordination committee for the next general elections has been cited as the reason why Gadkari has been asked to resign.
“This clearly shows that Congress is so confident of defeating BJP under Gadkari in the next elections that they have decided to hand over the responsibilities to Rahul Gandhi, who earlier led Congress to a rout in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh,” a BJP leader told Faking News.
“See, they kept Rahul Gandhi away from Gujarat elections as they think BJP under Narendra Modi will win again, but they are so confident of beating BJP under Nitin Gadkari that they have put Rahul at the forefront!” another BJP leader rued.
“Gadkari must go!” he added.
However, it’s not clear who will succeed Nitin Gadkari. Sources suggest that no BJP leader is willing to take the risk of losing to Rahul Gandhi, and this may save Gadkari again.
“If BJP loses, the man on the top will have to take the blame, unlike in Congress where victory will be credited to Rahul Gandhi while Manmohan Singh will take the blame for defeat,” a source added, “But this luxury not available to the BJP President; he or she will have to live with the ignominy of losing to Rahul Gandhi for the rest of his or her life.”
